James Manning Professor of Applied Mathematics

Overview

Dr. Geman is a James Manning Professor of Applied Mathematics in the Division of Applied Mathematics, Brown University. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1977, having completed his thesis on stochastic differential equations with smooth mixing processes. His adviser was Herman Chernoff.
Professor Geman's research interests include machine and natural vision, statistical theory and modeling, and inference for images, text, neurophysiological data, and market data.
