Assistant Professor of Medicine, Clinician Educator

Overview

Dana Levy Guyer, MD is a palliative care physician at Lifespan Cancer Institute and Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital.  She received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.  She completed her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics, as well as her fellowship in palliative care and hospice, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  She is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine, and pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.  Her clinical and research interests include early integration of palliative care for patients with cancer, palliative care for patients with hematologic malignancies, and integration of palliative care into the multidisciplinary oncology team.  

She is committed to teaching communication skills to medical students, residents, and fellows and is a Vital Talk Faculty member.  

Dr Guyer's personal interests including spending time with her children and family, hiking and outdoor activities, reading novels and poetry, and playing with her English mastiff.
