Overview

Dr. Lowenhaupt is a Pediatrician, Psychiatrist, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist based out of Rhode Island Hospital/Hasbro Children's Hospital.    

Dr. Lowenhaupt has conducted most of her clinical work within the child welfare and juvenile justice settings, currently serving as Consulting Medical and Psychiatric Director at the Rhode Island Training School (the state's only juvenile correctional facility under the direction of the RI Department of Children, Youth, and Families).  She represents the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry on the Board of the National Commission for Correctional Health Care, where she also serves as the Chair of the Juvenile Health Committee.

In the past, Dr. Lowenhaupt has practiced on the Children's Inpatient Unit at Bradley Hospital and at Harmony Hill School, Inc., a residential treatment facility and therapeutic school for boys with behavioral disorders.  Within the Brown Alpert Medical School Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, she has also served as the Associate Program Director for the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and the Triple Board Residency programs, as well as co-directed the Brain and Behavior Course for preclinical medical students and the Clinical Neurosciences Clerkship for third-year medical students.  

Dr. Lowenhaupt completed the Combined Training Program in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry here at Brown University in June of 2007, after receiving her medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard College (Magna cum laude).
