Overview

Dr. Jensy Stafford is Program Director of the Brown Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship program and the co-director of the Arts and Ethics in Palliative Care course. She received her BA in English with a minor in Religion as well as her medical degree from Temple University. She initially came to Rhode Island for family medicine residency at Brown and completed her hospice and palliative medicine fellowship at Harvard. She joined the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine and HopeHealth in 2012. She was the associate program director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine program from 2013-2022 and assumed the role of fellowship director in 2022. In 2018, she created Arts and Ethics in Palliative Care, a medical humanities course for HPM fellows. In addition to teaching and mentoring fellows, she primarily works in the inpatient hospice setting. She has also worked as an inpatient and outpatient palliative care consultant. Her interests include curriculum development, medical humanities, Balint group, and bioethics. She particularly enjoys teaching communication through observation. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and four young children, reading fiction, and crafting elaborate cakes.
