Overview

Mónica García-Solache, M.D., PhD., Is Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine in the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Research Scientist in Rhode Island Hospital. She obtained her medical degree from the School of Medicine from the National Autonomous University of Mexico followed by a PhD in Developmental genetics from the University of Cambridge. She received her microbiological training under the supervision of Dr. Arturo Casdevall and Dr. Louis B Rice. Her research interests are the role of extracellular membrane-derived vesicles in antibiotic resistance, secretion and communication in Enterococcus faecium and evolution of antibiotic resistance in gram-positive bacteria, mostly focused on the evolutionary trajectories of penicillin binding proteins in enterococci and streptococci.
