Overview

Dr Levinson completed his internal medicine training at the Georgetown University - DC Veterans Hospital program before completing a fellowship in endocrinology at the University of Maryland Medical Center. He then spent several years as a Senior Staff Fellow in the Hypertension-Endocrine Branch of the NHLBI, Bethesda MD, where his work focused on the role of catecholamines and other vasoactive hormones in primary and secondary causes of hypertension.

In 1985 he joined the Brown Medical School Faculty at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket where he served as the sole endocrinologist for more than 25 years. His teaching duties during that time included Site Director for the Internal Medicine Clerkship, Medical Grand Rounds Coordinator, and Co-Director of the  Brown Pathophysiology Course for pre-clinical students. He has contributed to more than 30 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has been selected by peers to appear on Best Doctors in America, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, and US News Top Doctors lists.  

In 2017 Dr Levinson joined the Brown Medicine Endocrinology group.  After many enjoyable years as a solo practitioner working with Brown students and residents, he is enjoying the additional rewards of working with endocrine colleagues and fellows.
