Overview

Dr. Peter A. Soukas is the Director of Vascular Medicine and the Interventional Vascular Laboratories at The Miriam and Rhode Island Hospitals. He is also the director of the Vascular & Endovascular Medicine Fellowship Program, training the next generation of cardiovascular medicine specialists. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Brown Medical School.

Dr. Soukas' clinical research interests include carotid stenting and the interventional treatment of peripheral vascular disease.He has been a site PI on over 80 clinical trials. He was the leading New England enroller in the landmark NINDS- sponsored CREST trial, that randomized carotid stenting vs. carotid endarterectomy. Additionally, he has been involved in over 20 carotid trials. He was the Global PI on the RELINE MAX trial that investigated the role of stent-grafts for the treatment of femoropopliteal in-stent restenosis.

Dr. Soukas is a recognized expert on the interventional treatment of critical limb ischemia and endovascular treatment of both arterial and venous disease. He has delivered hundreds of invited lectures nationally and internationally and is a reviewer for several cardiovascular journals.
