Overview


Robert Kohn, M.D., M.Phil. is a Professor of the Practice of Epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health. He completed medical school at the University of Illinois, psychiatry residency training at Brown University, and a fellowship in psychiatric epidemiology at Columbia University. He is the Director of the Brown University World Health Organization Collaborating Center in Mental Health and Epidemiology. He was the founder and Director of the Brown University Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship from 1997-2017.His research focus is in psychiatric epidemiology and geriatric psychiatry. He has an interest in cultural psychiatry and global mental health. He has done research on disasters, immigration, stigma, stress, treatment gap, and the role of social class on mental health. In addition, he has studied the prevalence and course of psychiatric disorders in the community, with an emphasis on the elderly.
