Clinical Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology

Overview

 Dr. Scott A. Triedman is a radiation oncologist from Providence, R.I., USA. Following his training at the Harvard Joint Center for Radiation Therapy in Boston, he pursued a career in radiation oncology at Brown University where he is a Clinical Associate Professor in Radiation Oncology at the Warren Alpert Medical School. For over 25 years, his clinical practice consisted of patient care and teaching with a primary focus on genitourinary malignancies before he pivoted to global oncology. He currently holds an appointment at the Lifespan Cancer Institute as a Research Scientist and works for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Center for Global Cancer Medicine (CGCM)

In 2014, Dr. Triedman started working at the Dana-Farber CGCM on various oncology infrastructure development projects in both Rwanda Haiti, and Lesotho as Senior Physician Advisor. In addition, he also began to serve as Senior Oncology Advisor for the global health care delivery nonprofit, Partners In Health.

Dr. Triedman currently devotes most of his efforts to this global cancer work. In these roles, he has been involved in numerous oncology development projects in Rwanda, Haiti, and most recently, in Lesotho. His work has focused on oncology capacity building, educating a skilled oncology work force, and developing resource based clinical treatment pathways. His multidisciplinary team’s ongoing efforts also directly support the clinicians providing cancer care in these countries through weekly remote tumor boards, ECHO tele-mentoring conferences, and various training initiatives. In addition, Dr. Triedman’s global oncology research interests include various implementation science research and quality improvement projects which are aimed at both validating and improving ongoing clinical efforts in the places where he works. His current global oncology research interests include barriers to cancer care access and the rational and ethical prioritization of cancer care in low resource environments

Dr. Triedman contributed to the World Health Organization List of Priority Devices for Cancer Management. He has served on the Experts panel for the International Cancer Expert Corps which enables research to be conducted by and for the benefit of those in health disparities regions. Dr. Triedman has also served as a long term global mentor for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and as faculty for the International  Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) and has also supported global oncology efforts at the Brown Global Health Initiative.
