Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Clinical Professor of Pediatrics

Overview

Dr. Plante received her BA in Psychology from Clark University in 1993 and her MA and PhD from the University at Buffalo in 1996 and 1999. She completed her clinical psychology internship at duPont Hospital for Children and her postdoctoral fellowship at Brown. In 2002, Dr. Plante joined the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior as Clinical Assistant Professor and as a pediatric psychologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital with clinical, research, and teaching roles. She was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in 2012, and Clinical Professor in 2022.

Dr. Plante has served as principal and co-investigator on NIH-funded researchon sibling adjustment to illness and disability and as a consultant regionally and nationally on addressing sibling needs. She is director of SibLink, a clinical service devoted to siblings that also serves as a vehicle for training Brown psychology and psychiatry trainees to use evidence-based group interventions to address the impact of child illness/disability on siblings and their families.

Dr. Plante serves as Director of Outpatient Services and Director of Pediatric Behavioral Health Integration for the Child Psychiatry Division at Hasbro. In these roles, she collaborates with Child Psychiatry and Pediatrics faculty in creating opportunities for interns and fellows to learn how to treat youth with complex medical and psychiatric presentations. She is a member of several medical school training committees and serves as clinical supervisor and mentor to psychology and psychiatry trainees, and as a mentor to early career faculty.

Dr. Plante has served on state and national committees devoted to ethics, enhancing wellness in healthcare professionals, and decreasing disparities in behavioral health treatment and healthcare, and presents on these topics in the training program. In 2019, she received the American Psychological Association Federal Advocacy Coordinator of the Year Award.
