research overview

I have developed the advanced musicianship course at Brown. This includes the requirements necessary for advanced studies in musicology, theory, and performance for most graduate schools.

As a pianist, I am very interested in developing technique and musicality in my students. This also involves the correct use of hands and body to try to reduce muscle tension. I try to develop the individual talents of each student, along with their knowledge of the historical periods of music and theoretical contexts.

research statement

My research includes teaching musicianship courses and piano. In the musicanship courses, I tailor the work to each individual student in the class. I am planning a comprehensive book on musicianship skills.
