Assistant Professor of Surgery (Urology) (Research), Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (Research)

Enrica Bianchi, PhD, is Assistant Professor (Research) of Surgery and Assistant Professor (Research) of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University / Rhode Island Hospital. She is part of a collaborative translational research group that brings together basic scientists and clinicians from Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital to work together to address issues of male reproductive health. As Postdoctoral Research Associate in Surgery/Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University, her research has focused on the molecular mechanisms behind ghrelin-mediated prevention of post-surgical adhesions. Her ongoing research is aimed at assessing the effect of ghrelin on mouse reproductive performance and spermatogenesis. In addition, she has been working on identifying sperm molecular biomarkers of testicular injury by exploring fundamental processes in spermatogenesis and learning how to detect the fingerprints of their disruption in the most robust manner possible. Dr. Enrica Bianchi is an active member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Society of Andrology and Society of Toxicology.
