Assistant Professor of Medicine (Research)


Nagib Ahsan, PhD is an Assistant Professor (Research) of Biology and Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Ahsan also working as a Co-Director of the COBRE, Center for Cancer Research Development (CCRD), Proteomics Core Facility at Rhode Island Hospital. Before joining the Brown faculty in 2015, Dr. Ahsan was a research staff in the Biochemistry Department at University of Missouri. He also closely worked with many international pharmaceutical and agro-based food companies where he was a Study Director in multiple food allergen projects. 

Dr. Ahsan obtained his PhD from Kyungpook National University, South Korea in 2007. He subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in National Agriculture and Food Research Organization, Japan.

Dr. Ahsan has extensive experience in the field of discovery proteomics, quantitative proteomics, post-translational modifications of proteins and targeted proteomics using AQUA-MRM technology. His particular interest in all aspects of the application of mass spectrometry based characterization of proteins and peptides from any biological samples. He has authored over 35 peer-reviewed publications on the topic and is on the editorial board of two international journals.
