Richard A. Brown Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior

Dr. Brown received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Oregon in 1981, following completion of internship in clinical psychology at Brown Medical School. He remained at Brown in the Department of Family Medicine, until assuming the position of Assistant Professor at the Center of Alcohol Studies at Rutgers University from 1985-1986. He is currently Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Director of Addictions Research at Butler Hospital in Providence, RI and has been an affiliated faculty member of the Brown Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies since 1986. Dr. Brown has published over 130 scientific journal articles, books and book chapters. Dr. Brown has been Principal Investigator of 15 grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society.
