Rachel Kantrowitz is a scholar specializing in twentieth century Francophone West Africa. Her research focuses on enduring linkages between France and West Africa, from the colonial period to the present. She examines Catholic schools in Senegal and Benin as a lens into development and decolonization. Kantrowitz has published on the postcolonial relationship between West Africa and France and presented on the intersection of digital technology and the historical method. She holds a PhD from New York University.
