Ravi Pendse serves as the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Brown University. He has extensive experience in technology leadership, ERP projects, change management, network design and security, digital classroom design, and library systems. He is Professor of Practice in Computer Science and Engineering and is a faculty fellow in Watson Institute. He is a Brown University Cisco Fellow and Senior member of IEEE. He received his BSEE degree from Osmania University and PhD degree from Wichita State University in 1994. Prior to joining Brown, he served as the Vice President and CIO at Wichita State University and has been a tenured professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for over two decades.
He serves on the higher education advisory group at Microsoft, Global advisory group at Cisco, CIO advisory board at Aruba, and on the board of High Touch Technologies. He loves to share ideas in the field of technology and leadership. He has won numerous awards for innovative and outstanding teaching. His research interests are in the areas of Internet of Things, cybersecurity and security policies, and ad hoc sensor networks. He has published more than 140 papers in peer reviewed conference proceedings and journals. His publications include impact of cloud computing to mobility to enhance sustainability. He has worked with the FAA to evaluate the impact on security from networked airplanes. He has published extensively in the area of ad hoc networks and related topics. Currently he is working on building an IOT lab at Brown University.
