Siddique Akbar Abbasi Assistant Professor of Medicine [ Inactive ]

Dr. Siddique Abbasi is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He has a research focus in cardiometabolic disease and heart failure and has conducted translational and epidemiological studies in these areas. He has expertise in advanced cardiovascular imaging, with a focus on cardiac MRI and echocardiography, which he uses to investigate the effects of obesity, weight loss, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome on the structure and function of the human heart to better understand the pathophsyiology of heart failure.  Dr. Abbasi serves as reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals in Cardiology and has been invited as a speaker to local and national meetings. He has published over 40 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.  

Clinically, he is an attending cardiologist at the Providence VA Medical Center, Rhode Island Hospital, and The Miriam Hospital. He is the Director of Heart Failure and the Director of Cardiac MRI at the Providence VA Medical Center.
