Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry (Research)


Youngwook Ahn was trained as a mouse geneticist in the laboratory of Dr. Robb Krumlauf at Stowers Institute for Medical Research. Before joining Brown University, he worked as Associate Study Director in the Genetic Engineering Technologies group at the Jackson Laboratory overseeing its mouse model generation service. He has over 10 years of experience in design, creation and characterization of genetically modified mouse models via genome editing in mouse embryos with CRISPR/Cas9, gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem cells and conventional mouse transgenesis. His technical expertise includes microinjection, embryo transfer, genotyping and mouse colony management. He also has extensive experience with gene expression analyses, histology, imaging and molecular cloning techniques.
