Overview

Adina Badea, PhD is Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and the Director of Toxicology for Lifespan Academic Medical Center. Dr. Badea obtained her B.A. in Chemistry from Wellesley College, and received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology at University of California - San Francisco/ San Francisco General Hospital and is board certified in Clinical Chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Her clinical research interests are centered on developing, optimizing, and implementing novel diagnostic methodology based on mass spectrometry and investigating emerging matrices for detecting analytes of interest in clinical toxicology to address unmet patient needs. Her past and continuing collaborations with the local Poison Control Center and the Department of Health aim to provide state-of-the-art testing for complex emergency medicine cases and to address public health crises with real-time comprehensive toxicology testing.
