Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Clinician Educator

Overview

Alison Block MD completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Philosophy track at Yale University in 2004. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area following graduation, she attended UCSF for medical school, and completed her Family Medicine residency at the Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency in Northern California in 2014. She served as faculty and Reproductive Health Director at the Contra Costa Family Medicine Residency for eight years before returning to the East Coast to join the Brown faculty in 2022.

Her professional mission is to improve full scope primary care and advance reproductive justice through clinical care, teaching, mentoring, advocacy, and Narrative Medicine.

In addition to her work at Brown, she is also a writer and the Executive Producer of The Nocturnists, a healthcare worker storytelling organization which aims to build resilience and connection among healthcare workers through the art of storytelling.
