Amalia Culiuc is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University. She teaches courses in statistics, operations research, and mathematical modeling, with a focus on helping students build confidence in their quantitative abilities - particularly those who may not initially see themselves as "math people."
Amalia earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Brown in 2016, followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before returning to Brown, she was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Amherst College. Her research in harmonic analysis, particularly weighted estimates for singular integral operators.
As teaching faculty, Amalia is engaged in pedagogy research, using data to better understand how students respond to instructional approaches, assessment strategies, and academic policies. She is particularly interested in inclusive and equity-minded teaching practices.
