Andrew Green, MD is the Chief of the Division of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery and Professor of Orthopaedics in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Dr. Green is a fellowship trained specialist in problems of the shoulder, elbow and upper extremity. He is an internationally recognized expert in shoulder and elbow surgery and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (www.ABOS.org) in Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, New England Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association. He has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” and is listed in the Guide to America’s Top Orthopedists, and Who’s Who in America.
In addition to treating patients, he is actively involved in research and the education of present and future orthopaedic surgeons. He is the director of the Brown University Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, and medical director of the arthroscopy bioskills laboratory in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. His research has focused on the clinical outcomes of shoulder and elbow surgery and arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery. He is the author of over 200 articles, book chapters, and scientific presentations regarding the shoulder and elbow, and frequently presents and teaches at national and international meetings and courses. He has served on a number of national orthopaedic committees. He is involved in the development of instrumentation and implants for shoulder and elbow surgery.
Dr Green graduated from Princeton University where he majored in biology and was a varsity wrestler. He graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and trained as a resident in orthopaedic surgery at Brown University. In addition, he further trained as a fellow in shoulder and upper extremity surgery with Tom Norris and Relton McCarroll in San Francisco.
