Amy Handlan is the Yang Family Assistant Professor of Economics at Brown University. She joined Brown University in the summer of 2021. She earned her PhD and masters in economics from the University of Minnesota and her bachelors from George Mason University. Handlan has worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago during her graduate studies.

Handlan is an applied macroeconomist with research interests in monetary economics and applying machine learning and text analysis methods. Her current research focuses on quantifying the words in monetary policy announcements to study their effects on asset prices, investors’ expectations of future policy, and other macroeconomic variables.
