Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior (Research)

Overview

Anna Yeo, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor (research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a Research Scientist at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Yeo also provides clinical services as a pediatric psychologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Broadly, her research interests encompass: (1) elucidating biobehavioral mechanisms underlying pediatric health inequities and (2) developing community-engaged interventions to improve childhood asthma and comorbid conditions, such as overweight/obesity. Her research and clinical endeavors focus on assisting children and families with comorbid physical and mental health conditions.

Prior to coming to Brown, Dr. Yeo graduated summa cum laude from Binghamton University with a B.A. in political science. Her academic excellence and contributions to the undergraduate community were recognized by numerous awards, including the Greatest Generation GE Scholarship and State University of NY Chancellor’s Award. Subsequently, she pursued her M.A. in psychology at Teachers College Columbia University, where she learned about community-based epidemiological research and clinical trials to improve mental health in historically marginalized populations. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from University at Albany, State University of New York. During her doctoral training, Dr. Yeo designed and implemented a research project to examine bidirectional associations between parenting and child self-regulation shaping pediatric type 1 diabetes management, which received the University at Albany dissertation award. She completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and a 2-year NICHD STAR T32 postdoctoral research fellowship at Brown Medical School.
