Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior

Overview

Christina Mele, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in Acceptance and Mindfulness-based Therapies at Rhode Island Hospital. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. 

Dr. Mele received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP). She completed her APA-accredited internship at the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System and her postdoctoral fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medicine - Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

Dr. Mele has extensive training and experience in delivering evidence-based treatments, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral and exposure-based therapies. Dr. Mele has worked with diverse and underserved populations across the lifespan, including children and adolescents, and veterans and their family members. In addition to providing direct patient care, Dr. Mele has a strong commitment to supervision and training. She serves as a primary supervisor for clinical psychology postdoctoral fellows in the Adult PHP in Acceptance and Mindfulness-based Therapies, and facilitates ACT didactics for clinical psychology students. She also co-leads an ACT seminar for psychiatry residents.
