Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (Research)

Overview

Cliff Oduor, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (Research) at Brown University and a member of the Bailey Lab. His research lies at the intersection of infectious disease genomics, viral oncology, and host immunity, investigating how pathogen genetic diversity shapes cancer risk, tumor biology, and clinical outcomes.

Dr. Oduor integrates experimental and computational approaches, including long-read sequencing and single-cell RNA sequencing, to study Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) associated endemic Burkitt lymphoma. He applies related genomic workflows across other pathogens, developing scalable nanopore sequencing protocols for HPV16 and profiling Plasmodium falciparum transcriptional responses to antimalarial drug pressure. His work aims to strengthen practical genomics toolkits and provide mechanistic insight into the biology of infection driven malignancies.
