Charles Carroll joined the Brown faculty as Visiting Assistant Professor of History in 2019. Since 2019 he has also served as Associate Director of the Harriet W. Sheridan Center for Teaching and Learning, where he oversees the Brown University Writing Center and Sheridan's graduate writing communities. He earned his B.A. in history and religious studies from Saint Michael's College in Vermont, an M.A. in history from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, and Ph.D. in history from Brown University. His honors include the Wilson-DeBlois Award for Outstanding Support of Doctoral Students at Brown, the Emergent Researcher Award from the Conference on College Composition and Communication (co-awarded with Dr. Brittney Threatt), the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Career Development Grant from the POD Network, and an international research grant from the Cogut Institute for the Humanities at Brown. His record of service at Brown includes the Provost’s Committee on Summer Bridge Programs, First-Year/Sophomore Advisor, the College Curriculum Council, the Truman Scholarship Nomination Committee, Brown Police Department Oversight Committee, Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Review Committee, Rhodes/Marshall/Mitchell Scholarships Campus Committee, Fulbright Research Review Committee, and various search committees for the Sheridan Center and the College.
