Dr. Morris is Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He is an expert in Clinical Pathology and clinical chemistry, and certified by the National Registry of Clinical Chemists. He has considerable expertise in Laboratory Automation Systems.
His research studies adrenal steroids and their metabolism, and the identification of endogenous GALF steroid derivatives, some of which are formed by intestinal bacteria. His studies involve the Gut Microbiota and Microbiome, and their relationship of steroid metabolism to Na homeostasis and Hypertension and other related diseases.

My research is focused on the mechanisms of action of mineralocorticoids and glucocorticoids, not only in the kidney, but also in vascular tissue, with particular attention on their effects relating to sodium retention and hypertension. We plan to measure the levels of endogenous inhibitors in diseases including essential hypertension, obesity, and vascular hypertension.
