Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice

Overview

Dr. Emma Belanger is an Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy & Practice at the Center for Gerontology and Healthcare Research at Brown University’s School of Public Health. With a background in both social and health sciences, she earned her Ph.D. from McGill University’s Departments of Psychiatry and Family Medicine, where she conducted a qualitative study on patient participation in palliative care decisions. She later completed a postdoctoral fellowship in social epidemiology of aging at the University of Montreal’s Public Health Research Institute (IRSPUM). Dr. Belanger’s research focuses on assessing and managing patient-reported symptoms in older adults, improving end-of-life care across different settings, and exploring decision-making processes related to palliative care options using mixed-methods approaches.
