Elizabeth A. Lowenhaupt Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Clinician Educator, Associate Professor of Medical Science, Clinician Educator, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Clinician Educator

Dr. Lowenhaupt is currently the Associate Director of Training for both the Combined ("Triple Board") Program in Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital.  She also co-directs both the Psychiatry & Neurosciences Clerkship and the Brain Sciences Course for Brown Alpert Medical School. 

Dr. Lowenhaupt conducts most of her clinical work within the child welfare and juvenile justice settings, currently serving as Consulting Medical and Psychiatric Director at the Rhode Island Training School (the state's only juvenile correctional facility under the direction of the RI Department of Children, Youth, and Families).  She has also practiced on the Children's Inpatient Unit at Bradley Hospital and at Harmony Hill School, Inc., a residential treatment facility and therapeutic school for boys with behavioral disorders. Her areas of interest include the treatment of children and adolescents in foster care and the juvenile justice system, moral development and disruptive behavior disorders, and medical education.

Dr. Lowenhaupt completed the Combined Training Program in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry here at Brown University in June of 2007, after receiving her medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and her undergraduate degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard College (Magna cum laude).
