Overview

James E. Simmons, MD is an Assistant Professor in Medicine, Clinician Educator at Brown University and is a member of the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep division at the Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals. He is also the Associate Program Director for the Brown University Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship.

Dr. Simmons has clinical interests in critical care medicine, inpatient pulmonary consultation, palliative care, and medical education, as well as research interests in pulmonary rehabilitation, novel echocardiography methods in respiratory failure, and critical care curriculum. Dr. Simmons provides inpatient critical care services as an attending in medical intensives care units at both the Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals.  He is the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation at the Miriam Hospital, and he oversees the fellow's inpatient pulmonary consult service at the Miriam Hospital as well.
