Jon Steingrimsson is an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics. Jon obtained his PhD in statistics from Cornell University and prior to joining Brown University he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University.
Jon's research can broadly be divided into two main components. The first is using available resources better by improving study designs, developing more efficient estimation procedures, or combining information from multiple data sources. The second component deals primarily with developing machine learning algorithms for censored data.
Jon is involved in a collaboration aimed at estimating the causal effect of sustained high drug adherence in HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis trials. He has previously worked on evaluating if statistical prediction models can successfully classify whether Listeria monocytogenes is persistent at dairy farms, and elucidate the underlying factors that may contribute to these classications
