Kathryn E. Demos, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Brown University Medical School and the Weight Control & Diabetes Research Center. Dr. Demos received her Ph.D. in Psychological and Brain Sciences from Dartmouth College. Dr. Demos is broadly interested functional neuroimaging, cognitive neuroscience, and cognitive factors associated with health behavior, behavior change, and cognitive control. Her primary research focus is in reward processing and self-regulation in weight control. A separate area of focus is in health behaviors associated with aging and prevention of dementia/Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Demos has been awarded grants from the NIH and other institutions to study neural responses to food stimuli and decision-making, as well as the development and testing of interventions utilizing novel cognitive strategies for health behavior change.
