Overview

I received my undergraduate degree in English and American Literature from Brown University in 1987, MD from Brown University School of Medicine (1990), and a Masters in Public Health (1996) from the Harvard University School of Public Health. I completed my medical internship at the Miriam Hospital (1991), and a Neurology Residency (1994) and Fellowship in Cerebrovascular Disease at Rhode Island Hospital (1995). I joined the faculty of the MGH Stroke Service in 1995 and served as Director of the MGH Stroke Service from 2007-2012. In August 2012, I was named Chair of Neurology at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Clinical and translational stroke research has been a major focus of my career, and I have enjoyed success in developing collaborative multispecialty initiatives.
