Katherine Kang received her Ph.D. in Educational Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Brown, she has taught courses on Educational Linguistics, Second Language Development, Second Language Assessment, TESOL Essentials, and Korean at the University of Pennsylvania. She has also taught ESL in the Community Language Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, where she received her M.A. in Applied Linguistics. Her research interests center on second language acquisition, pedagogy, and technology. She received a Dissertation Research Grant in Language Learning with Technology from Duolingo for her dissertation exploring the effects of different digital exercises on second language vocabulary learning.
