Dr. Lisa H. Merck is Professor & Vice Chair of Research, Department of Emergency Medicine, Assistant Dean, Acute Care Research & Clinical Trials in the College of Medicine, and Medical Director for Acute Clinical Research at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System.

Dr. Merck's research focuses on neurological emergencies, critical care, resuscitation, and COVID pandemic response. Dr Merck works with undergraduate, graduate, and post doctoral students to facilitate education in clinical research. 

Dr. Merck retains an appointment at Brown University as an Adjunct Professor of Neurosurgery.  She previously was the inaugural Director of the Translational Research in Medicine, Scholarly Concentration at the Warren Alpert Medical School and continues to mentor students in translational research.
