Marion F. Winkler Associate Professor of Surgery

Marion F. Winkler, PhD, RD, LDN, CNSD is the Surgical Nutrition Specialist, Department of Surgery and Nutritional Support Service at Rhode Island Hospital and has over 25 years experience in nutrition support practice. She holds the position of Associate Professor in the Brown Medical School. Marion received her BS in Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio, her MS in Allied Health and Clinical Dietetic Research from the University of Connecticut, and PhD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She is active in the American Dietetic Association, is a former chair of Dietitians in Nutrition Support, and is a Past President of the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.). Dr. Winkler currently serves a secretary of the A.S.P.E.N. Rhoads Research Foundation and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Oley Foundation. She has numerous publications and is a Co-Editor of Issues and Choices in Clinical Nutrition Practice, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006, and speaks nationally and internationally. Her current research focuses on the quality of life of home parenteral nutrition dependent patients. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the American Dietetic Association's Medallion and Clinical Excellence Awards, and the Distinguished Achievement in Nutrition Support Dietetics Award from A.S.P.E.N.
