Dr. Fenn (she/her) is an Assistant Professor with the Alpert Medical School and Research Scientist at The Miriam Hospital. Dr. Fenn completed her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island and her Pre-Doctoral Clinical Internship with the Alpert Medical School in behavioral medicine. She was a Post-doctoral NIH Research Fellow with Brown University’s T32 Training Program in Adolescent/Young Adult Biobehavioral HIV Research.
Dr. Fenn's research is centered on health equity, examining structural determinants of health, and developing and evaluating interventions for health promotion among equity-deserving communities. Specifically, her research has focused on the unique role of civic engagement (actions taken to address issues of public concern like volunteering, voting, and activism) in improving health-related outcomes among LGBTQ+ populations. Her work examines civic engagement as a health promotion tool to empower marginalized communities and mitigate mental health inequities.
Dr. Fenn is a licensed clinical pyschologist with expertise in behavioral medicine. She specializes in mental healthcare delivery to LGBTQ+ individuals, those with substance use disorders, and individuals at-risk or living with HIV. In addition to her research and clinical work, Dr. Fenn is actively involved in health policy work with the Rhode Island Psychological Association.
