Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine


Dr. Patel is currently Director of Molecular Pathology at Lifespan Academic Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed medical school and residency training in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), including one year as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in Molecular Genetic Pathology at BCM, followed by a year of post-doctoral research in cancer genomics and genetics at BCM/Texas Children's Hospital.

Dr. Patel is interested in utilizing Next Generation Sequencing technologies for the diagnosis and management of disease in patients; and developing informatics tools to help analyze, interpret, and clinically report the resulting data. He is particularly interested in understanding genomic alterations in solid tumors, including bone and soft tissue sarcomas.
