Peter J Lipman, PhD, is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Biostatistics at the Brown University School of Public Health. Dr. Lipman currently teaches "Principles of Biostatistics & Data Analysis" (PHP 1510/2510) for graduate and advanced undergraduate students, as well as "Causal Inference" (BHDS 2030) and "Problem-driven Biostatistics and Capstone Project" (BHDS 2050) for the online Master of Science in Biostatistics, Health Data Science program.
Dr. Lipman received his BA in Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University and his PhD in Biostatistics from Harvard University. After a ~15-year career in industry - as a Clinical Trial Statistician at Millennium Pharmaceuticals and then as a Data Scientist at Google - he returned to academia in 2025 in a teaching-focused role.
