I'm fortunate to be Alpert Medical School's inaugural Assistant Dean for Student Affairs for the Learning Environment. It's an honor to have the opportunity to help lead a wonderful team of individuals aiming to eliminate student mistreatment and support a healthy learning environment. My strong belief is that a healthy learning environment is also a healthy patient environment.
In terms of my background, I grew up in rural Alaska and was blessed to come to Brown in 2005 for the Program in Liberal Medical Education '09/'13MD. After medical school I completed residency and chief residency at the George Washington University Department of Emergency Medicine in 2017. Following residency I completed the Medical Education Research Fellowship at the Department of Emergency Medicine of Brown University along with a Master's in Medical Education of the Health Professions at the Johns Hopkins University in 2019.
I work clinically as an emergency physician at The Rhode Island and Miriam Hospitals as an assistant professor of emergency medicine. In the past, I served as an assistant course leader for Year II Doctoring, small group co-leader for Year I Doctoring, co-leader of the Clinical Skills Course and as an Assistant Dean of Medicine for PLME Advising.
I'm motivated to help diversify the physician workforce and help create highly skilled future physicians in the house of medicine through medical student and resident education and mentorhsip.
