One focus of my research has been improving quality of life and mental health care for older adults through testing effectiveness of psychological interventions, identifying barriers, providing clinical recommendations, and assessing provider competencies in various settings where clinical care is provided such as primary care, nursing homes, and outpatient settings. A second focus of my research has been on improving care through program evaluations and systems, specifically with regard to suicide prevention and capacity evaluations. Another focus is improving mental health care and reducing Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) in older adults with dementia in long-term care facilities through environmental audits, environmental interventions, understanding of resident expectations, and interventions improving care and participation.

I am not currently teaching any courses. I supervise Brown University psychology residents on the Behavioral Medicine track. My rotations are the geriatric outpatient mental health and geriatric long-term therapy.
