Assistant Professor of Medicine, Clinician Educator

Overview

Sarah R. Freeman, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.  

Dr. Freeman graduated from Brown University majoring in Biomedical Engineering and received her medical degree from Cornell University in New York City. She completed her internal medicine residency at Brown University. Her career as an academic hospitalist started at The Miriam Hospital in Providence. She then worked at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City before returning to Rhode Island Hospital. 

For the Brown Internal Medicine Residency Program, Dr. Freeman serves as Core Faculty and is a member of both the Clinical Competency and Program Evaluation Committees. Dr. Freeman is the director for both the department's procedural training and point of care ultrasound (POCUS) initiatives. She personally leads bedside procedures and POCUS on the wards as well as scheduled residency workshops at the simulation center.

For the Warren Alpert Medical School, beyond teaching on the wards, Dr. Freeman regularly serves as faculty for the Problem Based Learning sessions and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations for MS3s. 

For Brown University Health, Dr. Freeman is the Medical Director for Clinical Documentation Integrity and a member of the Physician Advisor team.
