Associate Professor of Pediatrics

Overview

Dr. Gogcu is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Director of Clinical Trials, Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship Director and a neonatologist at Women and Infants Hospital. She received her medical degree at Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, NY and her Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, NC. She completed a Master of Public Health Degree at New York Medical College, NY with a focus on Health Policy and Management.

Dr. Gogcu’s research interests are short- and long-term outcomes of extremely low birth weight infants. She is involved in Preterm Erythropoietin Neuroprotection Trial (PENUT), Extremely Low Gestational Age Newborns (ELGAN) and Developmental Impact of NICU Exposures (DINE) studies that are part of Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO) Consortium. In addition, she leads quality improvement projects and participates in team science. She currently serves as the President of Eastern Society for Pediatric Research and as an Executive Council member for Society for Pediatric Research.

As the Program Director, her priority is fostering a supportive, collaborative, rigorous learning environment where fellows are mentored not only in clinical excellence but also in leadership, advocacy, and academic growth.
