Salpy Kanimian is an applied microeconomist and a Faculty Fellow in the Department of Health Services, Policy, and Practice in the School of Public Health. Her research combines quasi-experimental methods with structural modeling to study the design and regulation of health insurance markets and structurally similar markets, such as workers’ compensation, that blend public oversight with private provision. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed outlets such as Health Affairs, JAMA, Inquiry, and featured in mainstream media outlets including Forbes. Salpy received a Ph.D. and in Economics from Rice University in 2026, a B.S. in Mathematics and B.A. in Economics from the American University of Beirut in 2019.
