Salley G. Pels, MD, is a Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and the Director of the Rhode Island Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center. She earned her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed both her Pediatric residency and Hematology Oncology fellowship at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital in Connecticut and the Yale School of Medicine. She also received an additional year of fellowship training in Hemostasis and Thrombosis as a National Hemophilia Foundation Clinical Fellowship awardee. Her previous appointments included the Co-Medical director of the Yale Hemophilia Treatment Center and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the section of hematology/oncology at the Yale School of Medicine. Dr. Pels’ research interests include quality improvement in Hemophilia care, hematologic disorders in pregnancy and immune thrombocytopenia therapies. She has served on the board of directors for the Thrombosis Hemostasis Society of North America, the Hemophilia Alliance and is an active member of the American Thrombosis Hemostasis Network.
