Tareq Kheirbek, MD ScM FACS is an assistant professor of surgery at Alpert School of Medicine of Brown University. He obtained his medical degree from Damascus University, Syria, and completed his residency in general surgery at Georgetown Washington Hospital Center. During that time he completed a year of basic science research at Massachusetts General Hospital with focus of hemorrhagic shock and sepsis. He later completed a fellowship in trauma and surgical critical care at University in Pennsylvania. After joining the faculty at the department of surgery at Brown university, he completed a Master of Clinical and Translational Research at Brown University’s School of Public Health. He is engaged in several educational activities at Alpert Medical School and the Brown general surgery residency. He has interest in trauma outcome research with focus on resuscitation, resource utilization, innovation, and trauma systems.
