Overview

Vivian W. Sung, MD, MPH is a Urogynecologist at Women and Infants Hospital/Brown Medical School in Providence. She received her B.S. from University of California, Irvine and her M.D. degree from Tufts University. She completed Ob/Gyn residency at Magee-Womens Hospital at University of Pittsburgh and a dual fellowship in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery and Epidemiology and Clinical Trials at Brown Medical School. Dr. Sung is the recipient of numerous NIH grant awards focused on patient outcomes and clinical trials in female pelvic floor disorders. She is currently the Principal Investigator for the NICHD funded Pelvic Floor Disorders Network Brown/Women and Infants Clinical Site, conducting multi-centered clinical and surgical trials. Her research interests include critical evaluation and translation of new and existing practices for female pelvic floor disorders.  She has served in numerous national and international leadership positions including the President of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons from 2016-2017. Her ultimate goal is to improve the care of women with pelvic floor disorders through translation of research into clinical guidelines.
