Assistant Professor of the Practice of Health Services, Policy and Practice

Overview

Dr. McQuade has over 25 years experience in conducting health services research at a senior level in a variety of public and academic settings as well as a broad public health background in health policy analysis.  His primary area of expertise is developing quantitative methods for assessing the quality of health care delivered in populations enrolled in Medicaid (fee-for-service and managed care) including special populations such as children with special health care needs (i.e., SSI, Katie Beckett and adoption subsidy).  Much of this work involves assessing the timeliness and appropriateness of   care in certain settings such as hospital-based emergency rooms and developing methods to identify the most appropriate site of care for specific populations with specific conditions.  In addition, Dr. McQuade has considerable expertise in developing claims-based datasets and linking them to eligibility and enrollment files to create information to inform policy and conducting surveys of specific populations to assess their attitudes and knowledge of the health care system.
