Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice (Research)

Overview

Dr. Whitney L. Mills is an Associate Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice (Research) in the School of Public Health at Brown University and an Investigator in the Center for Innovation in Long-Term Services and Supports at the Providence VA Medical Center. As a first-generation, low-income undergraduate student, she was selected to be a McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Scholar at Indiana University. She went on to obtain her PhD in Aging Studies from the University of South Florida and comple a VA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Health Services Research at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston.  Dr. Mills has a long-standing interest in improving the quality of life for older adults using long-term services and supports using implementation science and qualitative methods. Her work focuses on developing and testing interventions to improve nursing home quality, transitions of care, and assessment of decision-making capacity.
